Course Objectives

The students

* can design digital logic with gates and registers

* know the basics of a hardware description language (VHDL)

* are able to develop solutions digital problems

* can decide which functions should be realized in hardware or software

* have knowledge of software tools to program hard- and software (ECAD,
    VHDL, assembly language)

* can design simple embedded systems by hardware programming and
    microcontroller software development

* have knowledge on interface circuits to connect ADCs, DACs and
    communication devices
