The Math-Update-Project is born as a natural response to the actual state of affairs of mathematics in the world. As a response to the still great ignorance of what mathematics actually is, or what doing mathematics really means, or why almost always mathematics is so difficult to us people. As a response to the too little communication among mathematicians, and even worse between the mathematical and the non-mathematical world.
The Math-Update-Project intents to collect in one place the ideas of great mathematicians, of the past and specially of today’s world, who aspire and work day to day for a world in which mathematics could be thought freely, without prejudices, not only with deserved admiration, but first of all, with no fear.
The website math-update.net will be first exhibited at ICM 2010 and intents to open a worldwide-window to the real mathematical world.
